We are pleased to announce the winners of our Employee and Team awards for June.
Each month a selection panel selects an individual and team based on one of the Trust values from the nominations received.
During this pandemic, our staff have continually put patients first and have been a key contribution in tackling Covid-19. This month we want to recognise three members of staff and two teams whose colleagues believe they have stepped up and beyond.
The first employee of the month is orthopaedic consultant, Mr John Targett. Mr Targett who started the Trust as a registrar and has been with us for over 20 years has successfully managed the transition of trauma and cancer patients from Basildon to Nuffield.
Nicola Dyson, general manager of the surgical division said: “John has showed great flexibility in changing his role and responsibilities and supporting the division – working above and beyond his normal remit.”
Ambulatory care manager, Marco Da Silver, is our next employee of the month. Marco’s colleagues describe him as amazing, compassionate and strong willed.
Marco’s colleague, Angela Marney says: “I've had worked with a few managers in the 20 years I have worked in the NHS and Marco is head and shoulders above the rest. Marco managed not only his own team but also inherited AMU East and West, I cannot express how highly we all think of him.”
Our final employee of the month is senior sister, Suja George. Suja shows excellent bedside skills and would go extra mile to provide individualised patient care.
Suja’s colleague, Kinga Jekosz says: “She stays long after her shift ends on regular basics to ensure things are completed. Suja brings the team together by working the hardest of us all and by standing by us when she does not feel things are right – a clear example for all of us.”
Our first team of the month is the Bed Cleaning Team. This team have shown great flexibility and understanding during this crisis. They have stepped up, acted quickly in difficult times, with an excellent approach to the situation in front of them and always working together as one unit.
The ITU team on Frederick Banting Ward are our final team of the month. This unprecedented time has been difficult for this frontline team who have consistently worked with Covid-19 patient’s day in and out. They have ensured that our patients receive the best care to enable them to go home to their loved ones fully recovered.
