• Emergency surgery for traumatic injuries • Care for patients with skeletal and skin traction • Arthroscopic investigations • Treatment for spinal injury • Diagnostic surgical interventions
• Specialist care for major joint replacements
• Treatment for acute and chronic infection and inflammatory conditions
• Care for patients in plaster and splints
• Physiotherapy and occupational therapy
• Treatment for acute and chronic pain
• Palliative care for terminally ill patients.
The ward has a multi-disciplinary approach to caring for patients, and health professionals meet regularly with carers and social services to discuss each patient's progress and develop a plan for their ongoing care. Staff also work closely with the COMBAT to organise early discharge for patients with conditions such as major joint replacement, a fractured neck of femurs.
