Who the unit is for

Babies who need additional care following birth.

About the unit

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) provides care for babies from 27 weeks gestational age and above.

The specialist neonatal staff provide intensive, high dependency and special care, including:

  • oscillation therapy
  • phototherapy
  • exchange transfusions
  • echocardiography

Number of beds

21 cots providing a range of care including special care, high dependency and intensive care.

Ward facilities

Facilities for parents include:

  • overnight room for parents
  • parent/relative lounge
  • breast feeding/expressing room

Visiting times

NICU welcomes visits by family members at most times apart from:
2.30pm – 3.30pm, quiet time - no visitors permitted
3.30pm – 5.30pm, parents and siblings only.
