Key InformationCardiology/Cardiology High Dependency Unit at the regional Essex Cardiothoracic Centre (ECTC), managing the care of patients with a variety of heart conditions who will be admitted to us, either electively (planned admission from home) or as an emergency. The ward is split into three specific areas: • Two bays each with 4 beds which forms the high dependency unit.
• Eight side rooms
• Three four bedded bay
Side rooms have en suite toilet and shower facilities and each four bedded bay has a toilet and shower. Patients benefit from having large bed areas, which have been designed taking into account comfort, privacy and dignity and very importantly reducing the risk of hospital acquired infections to virtually zero. Procedure performed Percutaneous Coronary intervention, more commonly referred to as angioplasty, closure of a hole in a specific area of the heart, electrophysiology studies which look at the electrical function of the heart and also device implantation such as an internal defibrillator or pacemaker. Roding Ward is also the regional heart attack referral centre where patients from across the Essex region are admitted directly to the ECTC and will undergo specific treatment for the type of heart attack they are having.
