Who the service is for
Patients who need therapy as part of their recovery, to help them to carry out day to day tasks.
About the service
The Integrated Therapy team is a made up occupational therapists, physiotherapists and dietitians, as well as therapy assistants.Facilities in the department include three gyms, a hydrotherapy pool, individual treatment areas, as well as an assessment bathroom, bedroom and kitchen.
Occupational therapists assess and advise patients on daily living activities, to assist them to return home and be as independent as possible. Assessments can take place on hospital wards or in the department's assessment kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and at home.
Physiotherapists assess and treat both in and outpatients, to help them regain a normal level of function. Treatment may involve mobility and functional assessments, respiratory physiotherapy, physiotherapy classes, hydrotherapy and one to one sessions.
Dietitians assess and advise patients on their nutritional needs for their medical condition. Dietitians will assess nutritional status, estimate nutritional requirements and advise on appropriate nutrition. Our dietitians are also involved in training other staff on nutritional matters and nutritional screening.
