Cardiothoracic services are provided from the Essex Cardiothoracic Centre (CTC), a purpose built facility which became operational on 1st July 2007. Services are essentially tertiary although the Cardiothoracic Directorate incorporates some elements of secondary care activity. The Centre provides services for the Essex population and under Patient Choice accepts referrals from outside the county.

Access to cardiac CT, PETCT and lung function testing is available in the building though managed via other directorates
