Radiology Messaging is the method of distributing radiology results via electronic messages being delivered directly from the Trust Radiology system to GP systems.

From 1st of March 2010 it will be possible for all Practices to receive their radiology reports electronically and this notice describes how you can subscribe and what you can expect from this service. For those subscribing, Radiology Reports will continue to be sent to GP practices via the courier services although these will be phased out after a few months of parallel running.

Purpose:

This new service will:

- Increase the speed of availability of results
- Improve legibility
- Improve the security of patient data
- Benefit the Trust and GP practices in terms of efficiency gains as the demand for paper reports declines (less typing for the Trust, less scanning for practice staff)

The Advice & Guidance System was developed by the Trust to allow GPs to submit an electronic request for advice about known patients or a general enquiry to a specialty at Basildon and Thurrock Hospitals.

There are a number of specialists involved who can provide a response to a request within 3 working days. More specialities are being added as GPs or the PCT request them.
