Foundation Trust Application

In 2004, we announced plans to apply for Foundation Status and asked you to get involved by signing up as Foundation members.

We would like to thank you for supporting your local hospitals at Basildon and Orsett. We are pleased to report that, as a top performing three-star Trust, we were chosen to become one of the first 10 NHS Foundation Trusts in the country on 1 April 2004.In this section, you can download documents relating to our application.

Service Development Strategy

Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Trust is a successful 3 star acute Trust that plans to become a first wave NHS Foundation Trust from 1st April 2004. This 5 year Service Development Strategy has been produced as part of the Foundation application process. The strategy has been consulted on in draft form with internal and external stakeholders, and the final document includes changes made in response to feedback.

Membership Strategy

Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Trust provides an extensive range of acute medical and surgical services at Basildon Hospital and Orsett Hospital, in South West Essex. Membership of the NHS Foundation Trust will mean local people can turn the very real  affinity they have for the hospitals into tangible involvement.
