Healthcare Commission Core Standards Declaration 2008/9

The Trust has completed the annual self-assessment process for 2008/2009, by assessing and declaring compliance against the 24 Core Standards and the subsections therein.

Healthcare Commission Core Standards Declaration 2007/8

The Trust repeated the robust self-assessment process undertaken in 2006/07 in assessing and declaring compliance against the 24 Core Standards and the subsections therein. Declarations of compliance have been received from each of the clinical and non-clinical directorates, from each of the four Executive-led governance sub-committees responsible for ensuring compliance at Trust level and from the validation process. Validation of the compliance status was undertaken for each domain by a pairing, consisting of an executive director and a non executive director. The Trust's Internal Auditors independently checked the evidence relating to three domains, Accessible and Responsive Care, Governance and Public Health and provided substantial assurance within their report.

Annual Health Check 2007

In this year's (2007) Annual Health Check, we retained our 'Excellent' rating for Use of Resources and narrowly missed (by one point) keeping our 'Good' rating for Service Quality, receiving a 'Fair'. We are obviously disappointed with this but are even more determined to drive forward improvements that have already addressed most issues highlighted by the assessment.

Healthcare Commission Declaration 2006/7 (Annual Healthcheck)

The Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust's Board of Directors has considered the available evidence in relation to its compliance with the core Standards for Better Health, including comments from its partner organisations, and is satisfied that the organisation is compliant with the required standards except in relation to standard C8b. With the exception of C8b, the Board has reasonable assurance that the Trust has been compliant with the core standards and that there have been no significant lapses throughout the period 1 April 2006 to 31March 2007.
