Looking glam: the BTUH paediatrics team

Glamourous guests helped raise more than £12,500 for the Polly Parrot Appeal at Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals Trust NHS Foundation Trust.

More than 150 people attended the ball on Saturday 6 October at Stock Brook Manor, in Billericay.

The appeal is to raise money to enhance children’s services across sites and departments at Basildon and Orsett Hospital.

Jacqueline Speed, children’s outpatients’ reception, (pictured front right) said: “We’ve seen first-hand the impact the Polly Parrot Appeal can have on our young patients. The décor and toys the appeal funds can help distract children from the fact they are in hospital and it gives them a bright welcome as they come into outpatients. The ball was amazing – I can’t wait for the next one and they raised so much money.”

Clair Grayston, one of the event organisers, said: "Thank you to everyone who came to the ball and helped us not only have a fantastic night, but raise a great amount of money. Also a huge thank you to all the companies who helped make the ball happen by donating their services, and raffle and auction prizes."
