A charity golf day has raised an amazing £4,053.63 for Basildon University Hospital’s Breast Unit Fund (BUST) and event organiser, Allan Brodie, presented the cheque to Breast Unit staff on 21 November.
Over 60 people attended his charity golf day held at the Three Rivers Golf and Country Club on 21 October.
Allan explained his reasons for organising the event: “I decided to help raise funds for the Breast Unit after a family member was diagnosed with breast cancer. The unit helped them get through this tough time with a great deal of support. I thought it would be nice if I could give something back to the unit and decided to organise the charity golf day.”
The day was generously supported by two local businesses: Pembroke Engineering and SimFin Financial Planning Limited, with each donating £1,000.
Clair Grayston, Charity Fundraiser at BTUH, added: “We are extremely grateful to Allan and all those who supported the charity golf day. The generous donation will be used to create a warmer, more comfortable waiting area for our patients and their families who visit the Breast Unit.”
