Nigel Beverley has been appointed as the Chair of Mid and South Essex Hospitals Group.
Mid Essex Hospitals NHS Trust, Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust are planning to merge on 1 April 2020. Mr Beverley has been appointed as Chair of the new organisation.
Chief Executive of Mid and South Essex Hospitals Group, Clare Panniker, said: “Nigel has a long and successful career in health management, and I am delighted to be working with him.
“By joining our hospitals and services together we will become one of the largest Trusts in the country. Nigel has the knowledge and experience to ensure that we use that opportunity to continue to improve the care we provide to our patients.”
Mr Beverley has been Chair of Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for four years and will officially take on the role of Chair of the new organisation when it is formed on 1 April. Until then he will Chair the group Board.
He said: “This is a hugely exciting time for healthcare in mid and south Essex.
“We are redesigning services to make sure they meet the needs of communities, and we know that will lead to real improvements in patient care. Bringing the three hospital Trusts together will allow us to do more, and to do it quicker.
